Im hoping we may be able to help each other wink
I am currently in my second year post grad Bachelor of Midwifery at Uni SA. As a part of my course I have to "follow" atleast 20 women throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal experience. Also known as "follow throughs" or "continuity of care" the requirement is that I attend atleast 2 antenatal appointments with you, preferably your birth also, and a minimum of 2 appointments with you and your care provider once bubs is born.
Basically I am there under the direct supervision of your chosen care provider, I can be as hands on or off as you like and you call the shots at all times, if you decide you no longer want a student midwife at any time then that is completely your decision and you can leave the program at any point.
I can attend the minimum appointments (2) or I can attend as many as you like smile
Ideally as your student midwife I can provide extra support to you and your family throughout your journey and have an understanding of your wants and needs for your pregnancy and birth. My previous mums and dads have valued the extra set of ears and friendly familiar face especially if your care provider is not the same each time you attend appointments.
A bit about myself, Im 25 with an amazing 'baby' girl (how dare I call her that "Im 4 mum!!!" lol). Im working part time as a registered nurse and studying midwifery part time externally. I love my job and my studies and have an undying passion for Midwifery! Unfortunately my birth experience wasnt fab but it made me even more determined to be a midwife and advocate for mums and dads and helping them achieve THEIR goals in regards to what they want for their journey to parenthood.
If you would like extra information, please feel free to pm me. I am currently in murray bridge although relocating to the northern suburbs, I am happy to travel as the majority of my mums appointments have been anywhere from murray bridge to WCH and everywhere in between.
Thanks in advance
