Hi Im in launie also, there is a mothers group run in town, the information was in the child heath nurse clinic on york street (above ellie mays i think), and also the parenting resource centre at 34 patterson street (behind the mall next to the library), have young mums groups as well as a lending library and loads of resources. They are open tues to fri.

Im 29yo mum of 4 and am about to have bubba no.5. Its a great place for kids and there is plenty of playgroups and mums groups in the local suburbs, depends on where you are.

hi, whats the go with the child health nurse clinic? can they do baby check ups (mark of the blue books)? my child health nurse used to be amazing in south australia.
Hi
I thought Id reply in case the other mummy doesnt check out this forum, I have found the Tassie one to be quiet. Yes the health clinic nurse does all the checks in the blue book. There are lots of different clinics, there is the one in Launceston in York Street, that runs the mothers groups but there are other clinics in other suburbs. If you go to www.dhhs.tas.gov.au you'll be able to find the number for them smile

Hi! I've just moved to Launnie this week, to move in with my partner, and I know NOBODY! I am so lonely and get so bored during the day as my partner works full-time!

I am 27 and my DS is 3 months old! I'm looking for friends to hang out with if you are interested!

We moved here in September 2010, i get very bored aswell and have tried to get out but with three little ones, it's a bit hard sometimes... My oldest is starting school this year so that will be good... PM me if you haven't found anyone to talk too... Hi ladies,
How exciting to see so many new people to Tassie! I was born here and lived here most of my life, lived in north Qld for about 5 years and met DH there and moved back here to get married, buy a house have babies etc. I live about 20 mins out of Launnie and have DS, just turned 1 and due to have bub #2 on 13th of feb. Not alot of my friends have bubs and I tried the new mums groups when DS was a few months old and it was a little to competitve for my liking. Heading to the park with the kids and having a chat is a little more my style so would be happy to chat, PM, meet up if people are still looking.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying Tassie.

Hi, sorry but i am new to the huggie website, and not really understanding the lingo.. what does DS mean & DH, i have an idea but not too sure, i would say it's the blonde coming out in me,hehe... I agree with you about the mum clubs, i too would prefer to take the kids to the park and just chat and catch up like that... I was born in TAS but my dad was a miner so we moved around a fair bit, but now that i have my own family we have come back, i love this place, just beautiful... So i'm not sure how to PM anyone.... but i'm happy to meet new people as i could do with some mates... Post a reply back and i'll give you my MSN addy or you can find me on facebook, Rebecca McCrae.... This is all so new to me, as my patner, kids and i was living in a very very small town in W.A and finding friends there wasn't hard at all, but now in the city it's a bit more harder.... We are planning to move to riverside or Legana area, so fingers crossed being in a smaller town might be a little easier...

Hi Rebecca,
I had to have a little giggle to myself as it took me forever to pick up the lingo when I first joined huggies.
DS- dear son
DH- Dear husband

So glad I'm not the only one that felt that way about mums group. I'm so not into the clicky thing and competing about who's child is doing what. Maybe they aren't all like that but was enough to scare me off!
Wow that's a huge move with 3 kids in tow! You're a braver woman that I am!
I don't use MSN but I do have facebook. I've sent you a request.
Take care, Chat soon smile
Hi Ladies,
Just to let you know, there will be a Mums and Bubs meeting in City Park at the Chess Board (near the duck pond) on this Sunday, Feb 6th at 1:30pm. Just bring along a picnic blanket to sit on, and a plate of food to share. Just a casual get together, hoping to make it a monthly occurrence.
There is a facebook group if you would like any more info.

Hi All, im not sure if anyone is still reading this thread but i thought id jump in and say Hi. Im also new to tassie, we moved here in June 2010 from Sydney and the only people we knew was my sister and family who moved here at the same time as us. A little about myself and family, Im 28, married with 2 boys. DS1 is 4 almost 5 and starting school this year and DS2 is 1 almost 2. We dont have any friends and are starting to feel very lonely. My boys are quiet and a little bit shy (dont get me wrong they still have thier loud crazy moments) as am i. I dont drive either so we have to bus it everywhere and that also dosnt help to make friends. I have also not had good experiences with mothers/play groups. We live in Riverside and i would love to meet some new friends who are in a similar boat to me.
hi, i am interested in catching up if any1 else is! i have been here for 9 months now and i have only made one friend, its kind of depressing really!
Hi Caitlin!

I'm still interested in catching up! I've lived in Launceston for 4 months now and still have ZERO friends!! Haha!

Where abouts do you live? I'm in Kings Meadows, and my bub, Zeke is now 5 months old! smile

I'm 27.

PS - That goes for all the other ladies on this thread too!!

Cassie xox laugh grin smile
Hi guys, i have created a facebook group called "Recently Moved to Launceston Tasmania" if anyone would like to join. i thought it might be an easy way for everyone to communicate and keep up to date with everyone else. feel free to post pics of yourself and kids as well. everyone is welcome, dosnt matter if you have moved to launceston or have lived here your whole life.
Cheers
melissa
Hi I have also read the posts from the mums on this site and I would also like to make some new friends, as alot of my friends don't have children and I find it very hard to relate to them.
My Ds Zeke is 5 and a half months old.
I would love to hear from anybody who is keen to make some new friends in the Launceston area smile
hi all, i also live in launie and enjoying being a stay at home mum to my 4 month old daughter. I am however finding it a tad lonely as none of my friends have children and they find it hard to relate to the whole feeding, nappies, dribble thing tongue

If anyone is interested I would love to catch up for a walk or a coffee and a chat grin
