Christchurch Mums Rss

Hey,

Wanting to know what other christchurch mums have been doing to keep their kids entertained. I'm a bit over being home all day getting jobs done then parking up on the couch and watching day time television or going to the mall for the sake of going to the mall... though Northlands isn't much fun at the moment with the schools doing their half days cos their are teenagers there all day long.

Anyone know of anything to do (live in parklands) maybe a music group or something... or should I start up a music group or play group and who would be keen to join me smile
Hi there,

If you ring your Plunket nurse she should be able to give your a list of playgroups and music groups in your area. Otherwise check out their website for some details for their playgroups. I live in Redwood and they have a playgroup at the Belfast Plunket and there are two music groups at the churches - St Lukes and St Silas.

Awesome thanks, redwood isn't really too far for us to travel so might check out those music groups. I'd love to start one up myself by wouldn't know where to start smile
Hey there, I'm always inviting people along to my messy play group Creative Capers it is located at 193 Grahams Road in Burnside next to the big cemetary. Plunket is always a great place to start for local groups like the above post suggested, try also your GP.
Creative Capers is run at a small church; churches usually want their space used for the greater community when they aren't having services. If you live near a church(even if you don't attend there or at all), try stopping in there on a Tuesday- churches are often closed on Mondays. Ask to talk to their community outreach organiser and offer your services as a music and movement class teacher or whatever you are interested in, my thing is crafts. It is a lot of work to voluntarily run a community outreach class, but Music and Movement classes are always in need and they would be keen to help you get one going if they don't already have one.

If you want to come along to Creative Capers, we could talk about this more. The close-knit Christchurch community is what makes our city great, let's build on it!
