Hi, I live in Tawa and my second baby is due next February. I went with the hospital midwives with my daughter and they were good but I would much prefer to have someone who I can form a relationship with over the next few months. The other mums in my little coffee group either had a specialist or wouldn't recommend their midwives for a variety of reasons. I intend to have baby at Wellington so the midwife doesn't have to be based out here. Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

Just thought I'd let you know, I've heard the ladies at Domino are lovely. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get one of them though. I was on a waitlist and they had a place for me by the time I was about 14 weeks but by then I had organised something different which I decided to stick with.
I am with the Newtown Union Midwives, they have a shared care system and there are 5 of them which suits me fine but if you're looking to build a solid relationship with yours then I wouldn't recommend them, and I have seen a different one every visit! This is probably something like what you experienced with the hospital midwives I'm guessing?

I am currently pregnant with #3 - and have had/will have all of them at Lower Hutt hospital.
I am with the Birthworks midwife service and swear by them - I've had the same midwife for my three. I think the service has a fairly wide coverage for wellington region but you would need to specify where you plan to birth as I think midwifes are usually tied to particular hospitals.
Good luck finding a midwife - they do book up quick in wellington.

Hi there, I had my baby a month ago and had Libby Neal as my midwife. She was absolutely fantastic, I would definitely recommend her. She works with a group of midwives from Capital City midwives. I met about half of the group over my pregnancy (a couple of things went wrong when Libby was unavailable so they treated me until she could get there) and they were all great.

Hey,
I have a great midwife. This is my 3rd time around with her. She is English and very practical in her approach; you share your concerns she will answer them straight up. If you still need one message me and I will give you her details. Other option is contact the Hospital they have a team based there who can look after you. My Dr. reckons they are good although I can't talk from personal experience.
