Just a word of warning about Angel Care Baby monitors.....just lately I have noticed when I get my DS out of his cot,and I forget to turn the sensor pad off that it is not alarming at all, I double checked that it was plugged in right and checked the sensitivity level and tested it out again and it still did the same thing.....well long story short, I was talking to a friend who has the same monitor and she was having the same problem and worked out that the pedestal fan she had going in her DD's room was interfering with it......she turned her fan off and within seconds the alarm was going off. So when I got home I did the same test and what do u know the alarm goes off within seconds. Although my DS is 9 months old I still use the sensor as he is a tummy sleeper.Im not too sure if they tell you this in the instructions as I dont have mine anymore but I just thought other may need to know this info.

They do actually say in the instructions that other things can interfer with it, in particular mobiles and things hanging from the cot and anything that creates movement.

Hello
my son is 4 months old and we stopped using his angelcare monitor a month ago due to too many problems. The alarm kept going off for no reason (we would run into his room, hearts racing only to find him sound aseep n breathing fine)..then when you took bubby out of the cot it took like over a minute for the alarm to go off even on the highest sensitivity. The parent monitor made this most annoying buzzing sound n we had the digital and nothing that could interfere with the unit. SO anyways after 2 exchanges we took the monitot back for a refund and started saying a prayer for bubby each night that God would protect him as the monitor didnt lol!!

The ceiling fan did the same to ours but we just moved the cot from directly under it and it was fine, after that we never had any troubles with it

we have a halo snuza, its a monitor that clips on her nappy, if bub doesn't breath for 15 seconds it vibrates to stiumlate breath and if no breath 5 seconds after that it alarms, it is brillant! the only false alarm was when i didn't attatch it properly. Can't say enough about it, has given us such piece of mind. :)

We had the fan problem with our moniter too. Being born in December and having no AC we felt she needed a fan in her room so she didn't over heat. We ended up having it ocilate only for a few minutes while she went to sleep and then had it pumping air from the window through the door so it wasn't on the moniter but still circulating air in the room.
We did have a scare a few times due to its sensitivity so we turned it down a bit. It's been great for our peace of mind but should definately have more specific warnings about interference.

I use the Tommy Tippee one and I love it! I only had about 3 false alarms with my first son, once when he was just new and I dont know why, and the other 2 times when he was bigger and moved around the cot, that was the sign to stop using it!

I use the 'tomee tipee' monitor which has the bear with the light inside. It doesn't have an alarm but its okay since she still sleeps in my room

I have an Angel Care monitor and have only positive words to say about it.

It does clearly state on the instructions that fans can create enough movement for the monitor to pick up, but then, you should not have a fan blowing directly onto the baby's bed anyway.

Also, for those who report "false alarms" with their monitors, I am not sure how you could actually know that it was false unless you are in the room at the time. It could be that the baby had stopped breathing, and the sound from the monitor woke the baby up and reminded it to breathe again. Sometimes babies simply forget to breathe and need a poke or something to get them going again.

The only problem I had was that when my daughter was very small, she might sometimes roll off the area that the sensor could feel, but within a month she had developed a preferred area to sleep in so I simply shifted the sensor pads to that area rather than leaving them in the middle of the cot.

I only have WONDERFUL things to say about my angel care monitor as well. My DD stopped breating twice in her sleep and if it wasnt for the monitor i cant guarantee she would be here today. Best $120 i ever spent!!
