Hi all, Just a warning to all , Maxalon is great but the problem with it is that you can become immune to it. i am a nurse who gets really bad hyperemesis, and at the start of this pregnancy got my doc to write me up for maxalon, which didnt work and i ended up in hospital with a ruptured abdominal muscle and acute renal failure, anyways if its not working for you get the docs to write you up for Ondansetron, technichally its a chemo drug but works great for morning sickness and if you get a hospital script and filled at the local hospital pharmacy instead of a private pharmacy its a lot cheaper,as this drug is fairly new and hasnt been subsidised for anyone but cancer pts. anyway its all worth it in the end.

Hi all,
Ondansetron was a life saver for me...The only thing that worked...I lost 16kgs in 6weeks was in hospital about 3 times on drips as i couldnt even keep a sip of water down..The WORST feeling in the world...I really felt like i was going 2 die...I threw up all day every day and night (got NO sleep cos i was constantly vomiting) until i took Ondansetron then at about 15weeks just completely stopped vomiting and felt great the rest of my pregnancy and now I have a very healthy beautiful baby girl..
Good luck ladies

When I was pregnant with my first child, I was so sick I couldn't even keep down water. I tried evrything I could think of, and ginger just made it worse. I ended up having acupuncture. After my first visit, I could finally eat again, not much but it still felt better, and after 3 visits I felt fantastic. Thankfully second time round I wasn't as sick, and just watched what I ate.

I also suffered form severe morning sickness(HYPEREMESIS) with each of my pregnancies. I vomited up to 15 times day and night for 27wks with the first & 25wks with the second.I tried ginger, maxalon to no avail then was put in hosp on drip which helped and went on ondanzetron(zofran) which also helped a little but it didn't stop it completely. I agree you need to eat even though you dont feel like it, clix biscuits worked for me and small sips of blackcurrant juice. It may not seem like it but once you hold your beautiful baby you will agree it is worth it!

I hear you all. I suffered hyperemesis with my DS. It was hideous.

I didn't vomit b/c the specialist said there was nothing left to vomit up b/c I didn't eat or drink.

I was like a PP. I lived on the couch and in bed for months, except when I was in hospital on a drip!

maxalon and stemitel did nothing for me. Ondansetron relieved the nausea some of the day.

For those of you who have had more children - well done.
My DS is 3 and we are only just now TTC, because it has taken me this long to be ready for it ! The specialist says chances are it will happen again.
I feel like vomitting just from reading the posts and thinking about my other pregnancy.

So if you feel hideous - get help ! Because it does affect you mentally.
Sorry for long rant ;-0

I totally agree it affects you mentally. I have always wanted about 3 or 4 kids and after my pregnancy I am soooo scared too get pregnant again. i know that sounds selfish but I cant imagine doing that again...Hopefully in the future my mindset changes and we can have another baby.

I am 14 weeks tomorrow and I still have all day sickness, this is My first child.
I cant stand smells of food, perfumes, drinks, flowers or even grass.
I get that bad from gagging that I actually do vomit.
And it is the worst feeling in the world =[
I cant eat anything, I am lucky to keep down 1 meal a day.
I have found sarsparilla, lucozade and tropical juice is the best thing for Me.
The doctors put Me on maxolon 3 times a day to help Me, the days I do take it, I only need one and it lasts Me all day and I can get 2 meals down and keep them down.

I hope Your all day sickness goes away soon.

I have got hyperemesis too, its horrible. By 8 weeks I was vomiting all day everyday. I went to quite afew doctors and got perscribed with atleast 6 (safe) anti nausea medications that i found didnt work. Not even maxalon injections or tablets worked. The usual ginger tablets didnt work for me either. I spent afew hours at the doctors on a drip because i got so dehydrated at one piont. By 10 weeks I was addmitted to hospital and put on a drip over night. Then an obstatrician perscribed me with anti nausea tablets that i can only get through the hospital (Ondansetron). I know how it feels to be stuck on the couch for two or three months!

Im 28 weeks now and I still throw up every morning but atleast now I can take 1 zofran in the morning and then actually get out during the day without being sick.

Hope you feel better soon!

I suffered for the first few weeks, but my doctor put me on stemitil and I at first I felt relief. Now after 5 weeks of taking it, I'm finding its not being as effective. I've tried to go a couple of days without taking it aso to not be so dependant on it, but I started to feel like hell.

I just hope it eases up soon. I dont want to spend the next few months dependant on tablets to get me through the day.

I've found eating small portions regularly helps though.

I think girls make you sicker, if thats possible lol.
I was told im most likley having a girl by the sonographer and a phsycic medium told my mum that i would be expecting a girl. I have hyperemesis.

When my mum had my older brother she only suffered slight morning sickness and didnt throw up very much at all. And her sickness only lasted until the 12 week mark. But with me and my sister she had to be on maxalon for the first 17 weeks.
Also people have told me that tummies look different depending on wether your carrying a boy or a girl. All my friends that are having or have had boys carried quite low and my bump isnt low.
Everyone says ive got a big chubby healthy girl in there lol!

I know how you feel, why do they call it morning sickness when it can go all day. I have had 'morning sickness' with all 3 of my pregnancies, usually lasting to the 4-5 month mark. I tried everything and found acupuncture worked with my first, drugs worked for number 2 and drugs seem to be staving off for number 3 (I'm 14 weeks along). I take Zofran, which is quite strong but Maxalon doesn't work. I normally get constant vomiting so the fact that I'm down to nausea is an improvement. Try a bit of peppermint oil on a tissue or drip into bowl and place under bed for night nausea. That seems to help a wee bit. Good luck

Im 13weeks and iv still got crazy morning sickness well all day sickness. I never actually vomit but the nausea is awfull. Im finding it hard to eat anything, the smell of food cooking makes me gag. Iv gone off all the foods I used to love and am currently living on bread and cheese. On the plus side iv lost 4kgs but I feel horrible. I didnt have any morning sickness with my first child which was a boy so prehaps this baby is going to be a girl? I find my nausea worse at night usually at around bed time then I cant get to sleep so I lie awake doing the deep pregnancy breathing whilst i hover over a bucket expecting this time will be the one when I actually vomit. Ahhh good times im kinda not wanting anymore kids after this one lol

You poor bugger, hopefully it will ease up soon for you. Seeing that you didnt have it with your first you may not end up getting it as bad as some of these other poor mums. I too had it with all 4 pregnancies up to the 20 week mark and I really dont know why they call it morning sickness???? Its more like 24 hour sickness!!!! As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my 4th, I started the Blackmores morning sickness tablets before the morning sickness kicked in and they did work for me. But silly me stopped taking them when I was about 3mths as I felt great and the all day sickness reared its ugly head with a vengeance lol, so then of course I was too sick to swallow any tablets at all. I agree too that the nausea is worse than the vomiting cause at least u get some relief for a split second once you vomit :)

With my first DD I had really mild morning sickness, 2 weeks of feeling nauseous but that was it.

With my second DD I had morning sickness that lasted 9 weeks of feeling nauseous all day and then it returned at 20 weeks for another few weeks.

What helped me was

1) stopping the pregnancy vitamins and just taking folate supplements
2) accupuncture - really helped alot and wouldnt feel sick for up to 5 days
3) eating.. always felt better after eating something, esp savoury stuff

I'm going on 7 weeks and still no sign of MS, I know it might start tomorrow but I still feel really bad for all the expecting mums out there who have to put up with the MS. I've had no real apetite over the past week or so though, but I eat because I know I should.
