Hi guys,
Just a quick question -

My daughter is 6 months old next week, and have been giving her puree once a day for a few weeks now, which has worked well for both of us.
I am going to step it up and give her 2 feeds - breakfast and late afternoon will be when I am aiming for.

My question is, do I give her the same food for 2-3 days before trying her on something else. Eg - muesli/wheetbix for both feeds, or museli/wheetbix and fruit or vegetable puree in the afternoon.
Once I put her on 3 times a day and introduce her to meat it will be a piece of cake, but just need to know what to do for the next month.

It may be a silly question, but I only ask because I read up that you need to give the same thing 2-3 days to eliminate what baby is allergic to.
Anyone replying will be most helpful.
Thanks!

What I did and still do is, give her the new thing for one meal, and then something I knows cool for the next. Also once you know they can handle something you can add to it. For dd2 is good with vegies, so I added pasta, then chicken. She has also had beef the same way. I just only make it one new thing at a time. I hope that helps :)

Hi,

I do the same as vsmummy, add a new food to one meal on that particular day then the same meal the next day (on its own), but continue to feed my DS with foods i already know he does well with for the other meals. Haven't had any probs up until now.

Checkout this chart it is great and their website also gives you examples of times to feed solids and formula or breastmilk through out the day

hope you dont mind me mentioning this but my MIL was saying her friend has been feeding her 3.5month old baby weetbix. I saw the CHN the other day and she was saying firstly that is too young to start solids which may also be the reason for the next thing im about to write but weetbix is too harsh as their not developed enough for food yet and strips their stomach lining which can cause gastrointestinal problems. your bub may be old enough for it now but thought i would let you know just incase

It depends on your baby you know yourself what your baby needs. I agree that wheet bix isnt good to give a 3 and half month old but some babies need food before others. Both my boys were on rice cereal at 3 and half months as milk wasnt enough.
Some CHN'S will tell you dont do this dont do that but at the end of the day you should know what your baby needs. I was told i shouldnt give my 4 day old baby boiled cooled water but in the heat he really needed it plus when he got very sick he wouldnt take milk and surprising he took bit of water. So i always think go with your gut feeling. Im not trying to upset anyone
