Im feeling the same worried about labour got 15 wks to go. I had a great labour with DD but this time i know more and im scared. Im horrible with pain and will have gas and pethadine again but the crowning bloody hurt with DD and i can still remember it. Someone told me think of the great labour you previously had and think positive. Im going to do that but the fear will always be in my mind.

Hi,
Just think about the reward at the end! Try not to worry too much. Speak top your doctor about pain relief options including drug free., such as tens, hot packs etc. If the thought of the pain is giving you so much stress maybe you should also discuss the epidural and all other options, just as a back up plan. I had a drug free birth and thought it was wonderful. I don't think I would have been able to do it if I wasn't calm. Hope you enjoy the birth.

I recently gave birth to my first child now 20days old. I was worried about labour also as I had never gone through it before and did'nt know what it was going to feel like or how painful it would be.
I was thinking about it everytime I went to bed at night in the last month. I kept telling myself the baby has to come out regardless and I tried not to think much about it and let it overwelhm me.
When labour started I concentrated on my breathing to stay calm and got through it with a hot shower, birthball and gas. Lots of it. The doctor used a mirror for me when it came time to push to give me something to focus on and I could see what I was achieving with every push. I thought I would be grossed out by the mirror but it really did help the process. My husband was a great support also rubbing my lower back and applying a heat pack. (Heat pack felt soooo good.) Make sure you pack one. And just know the pain relief is there if you need it. Before you know it you'll be holding your beautiful baby in your arms and it will all seem worth it. All the best!
