I'm really struggling with a sleep pattern/schedule with my 4 week old - have decided to let her demand feed and have set up a bedtime routine and that can be anywhere between 5-7pm depending on when she wakes up etc
Night time she sleeps really well last night she slept from 8-2 then is still asleep now at 7:15am - should I wake her up or just let her natural body clock wake her when she's hungry?
I also don't know whether in the afternoon I should wake her for her bedtime routine so we can start getting into a better routine although this is normally her worst sleeping time of the day so I thought if I took her for a walk in the pram (she always falls asleep) then she can catnap and then when she wakes up we could then start the bedtime routine - any suggestions???

personaly im torn here.. I had so much trouble with my DD sleeping and i tryed so many different sleep programes, BUT she was @ least 2mnths old before i stared.
i got 4 dif' books and read each one and gave them ago, then i took her to a family centre and gave that a go. in the end the only one that worked for us was from a book called Save Our Sleep by Tizzie Hall. i swear by this book!!
so many ppl have said to me if you leave them all children get into their own routine, but i had to make some changes as life just wasnt wokring for us the way things were.
i know this probably doesnt help you so much but if you could get your hands on a copy of this book and read some of it, it realy is a life saver.. we still look back at it now and my DD is 18mnths, it has a guide routine for each age group and if you BF or Bottle. then it has about starting solids and tips on feeding and lots of other things.
the book talks about how importnat a bed time rountine is, that it happens the same at the same time of night so maybe wakeing her to make sure this happens isnt so bad??
i was told to wake DD at around 10pm for a night feed by my plunket nurse, and this just unsettled her so much!! and she started wakeing every hr, day and night (it was awful) i realy would leave your baby sleeping@night time if i was you but each to their own i know.
the most important advice i can give you is to give everything a go no matter what other ppl say about it. because every child and mother is so different, you need to find what works for you. good luck :) i hope you find something that works for you soon.
