How old is he? Has he always been like this? If he has always been like this or a month or youner I would try a lactose free formula. Otherwise I doubt it he would already have reacted. It sounds like colic. There are no known causes. You can get a few different things at the chemist to try.

Hi, I agree with the above post, It sounds like colic. Do you have a childs health nurse nearby? sometimes they run clinics at pharmacies on different days, you could go and see them about it or see your doctor, there are different remedies you can try to ease it, ask at the chemist. Its so hard when they are so small and in pain, poor little guy. Good luck with it.

Hi.My daughter was about 2months old when she started not being very happy and screaming constantly after a bottle.I didnt know what had hit me and it was very hard.I decided to give the Lactose free formula to her just to see if it made a difference after a couple of feeds she was much better and after a few days was nearly back to normal...when I went to the doctors a few weeks after changing formula he was not too happy that I hadnt consulted him about it but I was happy with my decision and being my 3rd child I was quite confident in what I had done.....Later when I decided to put her onto cows milk it took a while and she didnt take to it too well but Iwould just wait a couple of weeks then try again...she is 3 now and absolutely fine with all dairy products and food.So I dont know if she was actually lactose intolerant but it helped me...maybe talk to your doctor or the chemist and see what they recommend...but thats my story hope it helped

hi
I think ur baby has colic. Mine is 3months. I notice mine cried a lot after feeding arch his body hold up his legs towards his chest. He didnt sleep well at night every 2 mins he needed to arch n he looks like he is in pain.Since he was 4 weeks I changed his formula to Novalac colic which is less lactose. As a colicky baby digestion not mature yet they cant fully digest the lactose and it will left in their guts. That makes the stomach not comfy. He is getting much better since then.At least during day time he wasnt colicky, night time he still has colic. But it gradually decreasing. And now his stomach not comfy only at 6am in the morning everyday.I am pretty sure it will get better when he gets older.I was told by my GP if possible change his formula to standard formula as less lactose formula might be less nutrition for long term feeding. I did tried twice to give him standard formula. But his stomach very upset for the whole day. So I go back to Novalac colic. But the best is speak to your GP.

My oldest DD was on reflux formula until she was around 3mths old. When she started vomiting that up we switched her to lactose free formula. Settled so much better on that and the vomiting decreased. At 12mths she refused to drink the formula so have gone to soy milk. She is nearly 3 now and still wont drink cows milk but can tolerate all other dairy products.

Does he have really runny, foul smelling nappies? If so, could be milk intolerant. My little one did same as you describe. She was found to be cows milk protein intolerant and soy protein intolerant. She also has reflux. Does your bub vomit a lot or cry when he vomits?
We switched to a prescription formula called Pepti Junior and the nappies and vomiting cleared up almost instantly. Also had to take med for reflux but much happier baby. Hope you get some answers - and some sleep!

Best to go to a pediatrician and get test done. Dont jump to conclusions as every baby and symptoms are different. My son started with constant crying at 5 weeks and we ran tests for everything and it ends up being reflux. go and get it checked out and get a couple of opinions, i ended up with a pediatrician, gp and another doctor. good luck:)

My bub has severe allergies and unfortunatley the prick and blood tests are not accurate to tell what allergies they have as they are only testing for an anafalatic response not an intolerance. Start with the diet, you know your baby best swap and change slowly watching for reactions. If its colic it will pass if its an intolerance there will be other symptoms my daugther had rashes, bumps, red burnt bottom, whlemy, chesty, mucus in the bowel motions, black baggy eyes, and cranky as hell now shes on a dairy free wheat free diet shes so happy again. Good luck

I agree with your post and colic is the only reason it seems. It is better to consult with a doc in the initial stages so that child recovers from it without suffering any further. My niece few days back also suffered from the same situation and my sister was late to consult the doctor, the result was we had to admit her in direct supervision for few days.
