Hi,
Just wondering when your bubs slept through the night and what do you call a sleep through. I think I read somewhere that 5 hour sleep is classified as a sleep through am I right ?? Thanks

Sleeping through the night is considered a long sleep stint anywhere from 5-6 hrs onwards.

DS#1 didnt "sleep through" till he was around 3.5 months and that was a 6 hr sleep...

It does get better, he now does 5-6-7pm till 7am, occassionally wakes due to life changes in routine or teething pain, wet nappies etc.

Good luck

DD1 slept through from 4 months. And I'm talking all night.

DD2 is nearly 13 months and still not sleeping through. Longest I get from her is about 4 hours I think.

Think I got lulled into a false sense of security.

DS didnt sleep through until 12 months and that was only after implementing a sleeping program . He now sleeps 7pm til 6:30-7am (unless he is sick of course ). He was still waking 4+ times a night before we did the sleep program .

For a newborn a 6hour stint is supposeably sleeping through. To me any age is from going to bed to getting up in the morning. My son is 20 months and still doenst sleep through.

Agreed :)

I got so hung up on when the books say your baby "should" sleep through that I just got disappointed & angry. Bottom line is, your baby will sleep through when they are ready. They haven't read the books, they have no concept of age or time & some literally just don't need as much sleep as considered "normal". Every baby is different. DS didn't sleep through until 11months. Even now, at 2 there are nights he'll still wake up - I'm still hoping I get a little more lucky 2nd time round, but not building my hopes up!! ;-)

Both my girls are rotten sleepers!

DD1 did 12 hour stints from about 3-6 months then didnt start sleeping through till about 18 months. She will still wake every now and then but we're not having to sit up with her for hours on end like we used to.

DD2 is a mirror image of her sister.

I havent had a decent sleep in two years!

DD1 started sleeping 7.30pm-7.30am at 5 weeks old & DD2 started 7.30pm-5.30am at 7 weeks. Although I think 5 hours is considered 'sleeping through' so I guess that would make our girls both 2 weeks! We are blessed with amazing sleepers! :)

Hi,

I have also heard sleeping through is classified as a 5-6 hour block. But in my opinion sleeping through is going the whole night without waking me up :)

My DS 2 sleeps from 7pm-6:30/7:30am (but with a Dreamfeed at 10:30pm and another feed at around 4am). Even though he sleeps for a block of 5-6 hours after his dreamfeed before waking for his next bottle I still don't see that as sleeping through.

My DS 1 was an absolute SHOCKER of a sleeper right from day 1. I cannot believe how I managed to survive on the amount of sleep I used to get with him and that I didn't go and try and get any help with his sleep. He started sleeping through around 2.5 years old. But he still has good and bad nights, last night he came into us twice, sometimes its 3, sometimes its none. You just don't know with him. Also a couple of months ago he was starting his day at around 5am, that was exhausting, now its back to 6-6:30am at least.

I'll get back to you when it happens!!!!!! lol

She used to sleep really well from about 7 weeks, but at about 5 1/2 months that stopped. She would do 9pm to 6am solid, have a bottle and go back to sleep unitl 9.00/9.30 am.

Then just before xmas she started waking every hour or so. Not happy at all. Teething. etc just screwed up her routine. She slowly got better and would only wake at 4.00am. Since then she has kept improving except when teething badly or sick. She is sick at the moment so we're not getting a lot of sleep. :(

My DD's didn't sleep through till nearly 2 and a few weeks before their brother was born, although even now they will occasionally wake up but it's not very often and their nearly 3.
DS slept through (8/9 hours) at about 6 weeks to 8 weeks. Once he hit 8 weeks he started waking every 3 hours, and hasn't slept longer than that since, and is now nearly 7 1/2 months old.

Hi
your right its classed as five hours long for a sleep through...

My first slept twelve hours at twelve weeks and my second slept twelve hours at six weeks.

I wish i had of known that it was only five hours long that it was considered a sleep through i wouldnt have spent so much time stressing about it
