Duration: medium
Age: child
Skill for Bub: just for fun
summary:
Your child will have a ball making this paper doll and decorating their new friend. (Plus it’s a great way to use up old newspapers or junkmail!)
Equipment:
- Packet of brown paper lunch bags
- Old newspapers or catalogues
- Sticky tape
- Staples
- Markers
- Stickers
- Scissors
Instructions:
Draw a face on a paper bag. Stuff the paper bag with scrunched up newspaper or catalogue pages, twist the end and you have a head. Put two paper bags together one inside the other then fill as above. Staple or tape the end and you have a body.
Half fill 4 paper bags with the remaining newspaper or catalogues and roll to make arms and legs, then tape together. Use sticky tape or staples to attach the arms, legs and head to the body.
Children can then decorate to their hearts’ content with stickers, draw with markers, stick on cotton wool or regular wool for hair. You can also shred a paper bag by cutting up from the open end and create hair that way. You can add paper bows to the hair, or make paper bag clothes – it’s all up to imagination!
