Are you keeping a pregnancy journal?

Are you keeping a pregnancy journal?

I kept a pregnancy diary when I was pregnant with my first two children. I was too tired to keep one when I was pregnant with my third though ;)
These days I have my own blog ,which I hope one day my kids will enjoy reading as they get older. I also read lots of blogs where mums to be write and share about their pregnancies too.

Of course a diary doesn’t have to be an online one. My pregnancy diaries were a beautiful moleskin journal where I jotted down various thoughts and ideas and I could look back and see how I was going.

It makes great sense to me to keep a diary and when I read about how it is also a great form of therapy I understood completely. Pregnancy is often a very stressful and busy time and it was so good to be able to write out things and keep track of everything from how I was feeling physically or emotionally.

I actually started my diary when we were trying to conceive so it really helped me understand every aspect of my cycle, and then when medical intervention was required I could jot down questions to ask at meetings with the doctor.

The second time round I loved to compare the notes from my second pregnancy diary with my first one on a week by week basis. It often made me feel so much better to know that what was happening to my body had happened before. Because I found it very easy to forget, what with all the sleep deprivation and coping with my rapidly growing first baby!

Another friend of mine took a very different approach and took a photo of her bump every day of her pregnancy and collected magazine clippings and photos. She made a beautiful pregnancy scrapbook that I suspect her little one will treasure when they’re older.
Are you keeping a journal of your pregnancy? How are you approaching it?
