I am concerned that the x-ray may have harmed my baby. Is this possible?

Hi Alex,
I visited the dentist at week 13 of my pregnancy (I am now 15 weeks) and she gave me an x-ray, even though I told her I was pregnant. She put a lead cape over me, however I am still concerned that the x-ray may have harmed my baby. Is this possible?

Answer: Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry. The lead cape would have protected the baby form any ill effects. Quite often your doctor will weigh up the odds of harm to the baby and the need to do the test.
