What are the chances of me having another miscarriage?
Hi. I`m 19 years old have a 7 month old daughter and have another on the way. I have had 2 miscarriages already one before the first baby and one 3 months ago. What are the chances of having another one? The doctors never gave me any explanation and I wasn`t doing anything strenuous to cause it to happen. Is there anything i can do to prevent it. Thanks for your help.

Hi Tamika,
There isn’t really anything that you can do to prevent a miscarriage. Quite often a baby miscarries because there was a problem with the way it was formed at conception and it will never be able to grow into a healthy child so it is miscarried. A doctor really only tells you to take it easy to help you not feel guilty if the baby does miscarry. Every pregnancy has a 1 in 4 chance of miscarrying. So unfortunately it is a matter of wait and see – once you get to 12 weeks your chances are greatly reduced.
Best wishes,
Alex
