Could you explain the risk of a marginal subchorionic haemorrage to me and baby?

I have been told by my doctor that i have fluid around the edge of the placenta on the left side in my current pregnancy and have been told that there is a possibility of having a bleed or in there terms a marginal subchorionic haemorrage. I was wondering if you could explain the risk of this to my baby and me, because my doctor wasn`t very good at answering any of my questions she just kept saying that the fluid will come out on its own and if it does to see her for an ultrasound.

Answer: Hi,
This is quite common to have a small leak on the edge of the placenta where it is not joined to the uterine wall as well as it should. Sometimes it can cause some bleeding throughout pregnancy as a small lump of blood forms at the leak. It is not regarded as a serious problem and the pregnancy can continue as normal. The blood that is lost is the mother’s blood. Although you need to inform your carer’s if you do bleed.
Best wishes,
