Warmer weather brings out the inner fitness freak

Warmer weather brings out the inner fitness freak

In Sydney at least, Winter seems to have almost done it’s dash. The warmer weather means the extra blankets have gone back in the cupboard, hot lunches are giving way to salad sandwiches, and the sun is up bright and early to herald a new day.

I’m even starting to feel the urge to exercise, a foreign concept after a long hibernation and a few too many hot chocolates before bedtime!

But for many mums, by the time you’ve done the household chores, taken the kids to school or the park and back, there’s not much time or energy left for exercise. That’s why Huggies has teamed up with BH fitness to chip in for some equipment for your home gym (yes, ‘home gym’ includes that space in the corner of the lounge facing the television).

The 20% off voucher can be redeemed online at bhfitness.com.au, to purchase a treadmill, exercise bike, spin bike or elliptical cross trainer. While these items require some up front financial investment, they will outlive a gym membership and allow you to exercise anytime you can find the time.

The voucher is available for a limited time, so visit the promotions page and download yours today.

I don’t have room for any exercise equipment at my house, so I’ll be hitting the park with my puppy this week to burn off some extra kilojoules. If you don’t have the space or money for exercise equipment at home, what are your top tips for fitting a quick workout into your busy day?

I have a mini tramp that I bought cheaply online from DealsDirect - I prop it on it's side next to a window when I'm not using it, doesn't use much space. I jog on it watching the late night news each evening when most of the household is in bed!

Avatar i love my bubba!

So so true! I'm in tasmania, and the weather is so cold and wet in winter that I can't be bothered doing anything! Now its warming up, i am turning into a bit of a health and fitness freak! I always make sure i get out and take bub for a walk in the fresh air (in the pram, as i like to do a decent work out). I usually walk around 5 or 6km, but its easy because i live by the beach, so i hardly notice how far ive gone!

I just feel soo much better when i exercise, and its a bonus when you lose the extra baby weight (i'm not far off pre-preg weight now!)

I know it sounds a bit funny- but i got the Zumba fitness DVD's. The classes were always on at times when one or both of my daughters were having there sleeps- so i couldnt leave the house. The DVDS are almost as fun, and i can do them whenever it suits. Sometimes late at night- after getting up for a teething toddler smile
