Is it okay to feed my 8 month old baby brown rice, bread and pasta?
Is it okay to feed my 8 month old baby brown rice, bread and pasta - or is white rice etc. better at this age?
Answer: Hi There, Whole grains and cereals generally are healthier options to be honest, so as long as the rice is well cooked and baby copes with the texture then give it ago. Bread, personally I recommend another month, just because most breads have a wide range of things in them, and it`s good to get lots of foods safely trialed first. But having said that many bubs do just fine with bread at this age. Pasta is nice, as are noodles as they tend to be pretty much flour and water and maybe egg, depending on the type. The egg ones may be best left a little longer. Sorry I hope I am not confusing you. In my book I have to say that`s why I take a slow approach, starting with gluten-free options about 9ish months and working up from there. It just introduces a whole range of `other` incidental ingredients a little slower. So to be a little clearer, start with the brown rice and then move onto some gluten-free pasta and then onto pastas and work up from there. Hope that reads okay, sorry, I am struggling with the flu today, Winter has hit us... ugh! All the best, Leanne
