I`m petrified about feeling him finger foods because of his T.O.F.

Hi Leanne,
My little boy, Charlie, was born a TOF baby. He had puree until he was 9 months old and then I introduced him to more lumpier food. He is only still eating food mashed with a fork and I`m petrified about feeling him finger foods because of his TOF. Are there any foods that I could give him that would definately be safe. He is nearly 1!
Thank you,
Eloise.

Answer: Hi Eloise, I hope Charlie is doing well now, I am guessing he has had surgery and it has all gone well! I can recommend a feeding mesh, they are such a great way of offering finger foods, safe and reassuring for you both. You might then be able to move onto soft finger foods such as slithers of banana and avo and keep working up to harder finger foods from there. Noodles, pasta, rice and so on. I would recommend the sites below, they have some information on feeding ideas and are the experts in this area: This sheet has some good tips about feeding ideas: Tracheo Oesophageal Fistula Repaired TOF http://www.sch.edu.au/health/factsheets/joint/?tracheo_oesophageal_fistula.htm I hope that helps to get things started. I also have a tip sheet on Huggies of finger foods that you could `pick` through. You might be able to sort it into soft to hard and work through that way: Finger foods and beyond and healthy eating habits Snack ideas I hope that is helpful, good luck with progressing forwards, I am sure it will all be just fine and you will look back and wonder why it seemed so scary! Hooroo, Leanne
