About 2-3 mths ago we stopped giving him the med and he has been fine, but now...
I have an 8 1/2 mth old who was diagnosed with reflux at 9 weeks. He was on Omeprazole once a day. About 2-3 mths ago we stopped giving him the med and he has been fine, only little spit-ups and no pain. Three weeks ago he had a vomit (not spit-up) just before his lunch, then 5 days later another vomit about 3:30pm, not long before dinner time. Then 3 days later another vomit again at 3:30pm, then 8 days later another vomit again at 3:30pm. He also hasn`t put on weight for 1 month. My question is do you think that the vomiting is reflux? He hasn`t had a fever or any pain and seems fine in himself (eg laughing, playing...) He has 4 breastfeeds a day and three solid meals (about 1 cup each meal) a day. I can only get him to eat rice cereal for breakfast and vegies for lunch and dinner.
So sorry for very long question but I think the more info I can give you the more you might be able to help.
Please don’t apologise for the long question – and I agree, the more information you can give the easier it generally is. However, despite all your information, I cannot tell you whether the vomiting is reflux related or not. That is a matter for your doctor and I would advise you to talk to him/her about it.
It may still be possible it is reflux, particularly as it is often reported to flare around that age - with crawling or trying to crawl, and other factors like teething, hot and humid weather (as well as constipation, immunisations, change in routine and overtiredness). However there can be many reasons why he could have started vomiting like you describe (e.g. it is possible to have an infection without fever) so it is best to get medical advice whenever you have concerns.
I am sorry I can’t give you any answers, but please trust your instincts and seek medical advice.
