Answer: Hi, The current recommendations are to offer solid foods around six months. At four months he's still a little young for his gut to digest solid food. There's a risk with introducing solid foods too early that he may not breastfeed as well and breastfeeding is so good for him and you that it's worth not interrupting this. Speak with your CHN about whether your baby needs extra feeds. The general signs for solids readiness are being able to sit unsupported, being able to transfer food from the front of the tongue to the back and swallow and not being as satisfied with milk feeds alone. If his weight and growth are fine then these are signs that breastmilk is sufficient for him at this age and stage. Best Jane
