This is the room I designed and painted for our first baby, who is due on 2 April 2012 (at the time of writing this, baby is still not with us!). We don’t know if baby will be a boy or girl, so the room had to be somewhat unisex, but still whimsical and “not boring”! I used a mixture of freehand painting with a brush, and home-made stencils.

I have always loved trees and birds and nature and liked the idea of our baby being sheltered by the branches of the tree, staring up at the birdies while they sang him/her a song…

Of course,I couldn’t help adding a few blossoms; to me they represent new life and everything fresh and good. I’m sure if our baby is a boy, he won’t mind (and I can always add a monkey swinging from the branches!).

The room is also practical, with changing table, chest of drawers, and a single bed for mummy to sleep in if baby needs me near-by. Almost everything in the room was created and designed by us – including the stretched canvas with fishies on the wall.

All we need now is a baby to complete the picture!!
