We did not want to spend a fortune on Lyla’s room since everything to do with a baby seems so expensive.

We used trademe for most of the furniture including the cot, change table, draws and chair. The draws and chair needed a lot of fixing up and we painted them both and re-upholstered the chair ourselves. The side table and draws were from 1 day but to make them suit the room we glue gunned the fabric on the draws.

The artwork is just made from some old canvases that we had around and we used the leftover material to cover these. The larger white framed picture is something I always had in my room when I was little and belonged to my great aunt. I scavenged an old frame that was being thrown out to reframe this.

When I was getting Lyla’s room ready I had not really considered how much time I would spend in there. Even though it was a lot of hard work I like that I spent the time to make a room that mum, dad and Lyla love hanging out in.
