She needs me to be sit by her cot and often turns her head to check if I am still there

Hi Maree,
My 16 month old has just moved into her own room. It has only been a week since she moved out. She falls asleep in her cot okay although she requires me to be sit by her cot and often turns her head around to check if I am still around. She wakes up 5 – 6 times a night crying and will scream the house down and stand up in her cot if I don’t go back to her room.I put her down and wait for her to fall alseep then proceed to my room. After the 5th time, we get so tired that we bring her into our bed. How can I stop this night time waking up and her screaming. Just so that you know she uses a dummy to got to sleep at night. Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mamta

Answer: Hi Mamta,
When she falls asleep knowing you are there and she wakes on her light sleep (as we all do) and you are not there and she can`t resettle without you. She needs to fall asleep without you in the room. you might want to try our settling program for 6 to 12 months since she is still in a cot it will work even though she is a bit older.

Cheers, Maree
