Do you think this may be wind or a sleep pattern?

Hi Maree
I have a 14 week old baby who sleeps fine during the day. At night he will sleep for around three hours and then wake, feed and resettle but will then start waking every 20-60mins after that with what seems like wind, he will not go back to sleep unless he has passed it which can take hours of massaging his stomach moving his legs etc. This has been going on for weeks we have tried our doctors suggestions of gripe water before bed and giving him water, do you think this may be wind or a sleep pattern? do you have any suggestions on how we can get him to sleep longer?
Thank you
Katrina

Answer: Hi Katrina, You certainly don`t want to be trying to resettle a baby in pain. Try to get the wind problem under control, but also keep in mind that if he is settling in your arms but not in the cot then he may be looking for comfort more than pain relief. Always settle baby awake during the day and initially at night so you know he can sleep independently. Cheers, Maree
