Hi Maree, I have twin girls 23 months, they have no problem going to sleep, they go to sleep with a bottle around 7 to 8 pm, but then wake 11.00pm or 1.00pm and then again at 5.00am and then rise around 6.30am. I re-settle them sometimes with bottle sometimes with a pat on the back and it may not always be both children but one or the other. They are in the same room but do not necessarily disturb each other. But it means I am getting up in the night from sleep myself possibly 3 times a night. Is this normal? They have always slept to similiar routine but I have been hoping they would advance to a better sleep pattern?
Thanks Belinda

Answer: Hi Belinda, You need to stop offering the bottle during the night as they are waking out of habit for it as a comfort thing to return to sleep. You can offer a bottle before bed but make sure you do it in the lounge room and then settle the girls awake into the cot, never give them a bottle to go to sleep with as they will wake and look for this comfort to return to sleep. Cheers, Maree
