I`m having a hard time trying to establish the feed/play/sleep routine

hi maree,
im dannielle and im having a hard time trying to establish the feed/play/sleep routine as my baby jake 3mth old wants to eat when he wakes hes awake for aprox 2-3hours than he wants another feed before going to bed otherwise he cries. ive tried a dummy but he will only sleep for like 20mins and it takes him an hour to fall asleap in the first place.than wakes up hungry again. im afraid all he is doing is snacking on me all day and using my breast to fall asleap. all day he will only have 2 1/2 hours sleep all up in 1/2hr to 45min sleeps each sleep.
please help.

Answer: Hi Dannielle, You might be missing the tired signs. Good feeding times are 2,6,10,2,6,10. Always follow a feed/play/sleep routine and always settle baby awake into the cot. At night replace play with a nappy change and settle awake. This way you are not feeding an overtired baby off to sleep. When baby is ready to drop say the 10pm or 2am feed in a another month or so you will be down to just one overnight feed until around 6 months when he should be able to sleep through the night. This way you are teaching baby to sleep independently. You might want to follow our it`s time to sleep settling program it teaches good sleeping habits form the beginning. You can get details for our It`s Time To Sleep settling program from Your Baby`s Sleep or www.itstimetosleep.com Cheers, Maree
