Do I continue to do this to "train" her to sleep on her own?

Hi Maree,
I have a 5 week old baby who will only go to sleep when we hold her. We tried putting her down in her bassinet yesterday after her bath time at around 6:30p.m, and she was just crying her heart out. Do I continue to do this to "train" her to sleep on her own?

She is also waking up every 2-3 hours at night for feeding, I want to stretch this to 4 hours, but was wondering how do I go about doing it? And when do I start doing it?

There are so many sleep programmes/books out there, I was just so confused as to which one to choose from!

Looking forward to your reply!
Kind regards,
Jessica.

Answer: Hi Jessica, I recommend you follow a feed/play/sleep routine and always resettle baby awake into the cot after a night feed. You would expect to feed 4 hourly so if not due for a feed try using our It`s Time To Sleep settling techniques to resettle. You can get details from `Your Baby`s Sleep` page or www.itstimetosleep.com Cheers, Maree
