Alyssa wants to sleep in the bed with me or watch tv to fall asleep

hello maree, how are you? my name is cassie i have a almost 4 year old daughter named alyssa and a 14 month old daughter tiarna, i would just like to get some advice on how to get alyssa to sleep each night, tiarna is a great sleeper and is happier in her cot with out been disturbed, where as alyssa wants to sleep in the bed with me or watch tv to fall asleep, every night is a struggle to get her to sleep most nights she is put into bed around 8pm and watches tv in her bed and wont be asleep before 10:30, she also makes her way into my bed most nights after just a few hours sleep, she wakes at around 9pm and has no sleeps during the day, she has refused to have sleeps during the day since she was 24 months old,she is a very on the go child she never stops,as i think alyssa would really benefit from a good night sleep, as she is becoming grumpy and naughty during the day, i am exhausted and really looking forward to hearing from you.... thankyou

Answer: Hi Cassie, This is now Alyssa`s routine. For things to change you need to set new rules. Children thrive on having boundaries set and you need to set them and have her abide by them. She may not like the changes but she is in control and you need to take back control. Set a routine of dinner bath quiet play 2 storeis or a bit of TV and good night NO TV in the room and no hopping in your bed, she needs to fall asleep on her own in her own bed so she learns to sleep independently so if she wakes later in the night (as we all do) she can resettle herself without needing your comfort to do so.
