I feel like a bad mum if I have to put on a DVD or TV to get the jobs done when he doesn`t sleep

HI Maree,
My son who is 2 1/2 is struggling to have a daytime sleep. It used to take me only 15 minutes to settle him, but know I find myself spending over an hour trying to settle him as he kicks the wall and sings at the top of his voice - anything to try and wake himself and not go to sleep. If I let him not have a sleep, we usually have an hour or so in the afternoon of `terror time` but he obviously settles to sleep well at night. I feel like a bad mum if I have to put on a DVD or TV to get the jobs done when he doesn`t sleep. How much sleep does a 2 - 3 yr old need and could it just be that he no longer needs a daytime sleep?

Answer: Hi, It is about this age toddlers stop the daytime nap so don`t make a battle out of it. I would definitely recommend some quiet time with a low key DVD in a darkened room just for some relax time - don`t feel like a bad mum please we all need a bit of space. Cheers, Maree
