He wakes again close to 6am and we cannot seem to re-settle him

Hi Maree
I have a 9 weeks old baby and have been following Lizzie Hall`s routine since he was 4 weeks. So far it has been working okay.
After his 8 week immunisations, he seems to follow the same routine of sleep at 7pm and then wakes for a feed at 10:30pm (formula), 2pm (breast until won`t take anymore) and 5pm (breast until won`t take anymore) BUT now he wakes again close to 6am and we cannot seem to re-settle him so that we can wake him again at 7am. Naturally we have not recovered from waking to feed him at 5pm and often just end up picking him up and cuddling him to sleep as the pacifier does not seem to work in this instance. We think we probably should be using the settling technique which involves lying him on his side and massaging/patting him, but as you would understand our sleep takes over and we end up going for hopefully a quicker solution.
We are trying to keep flexible with the routine keeping in mind that he is just a baby but would really appreciate your advice in what we could be doing better for him.
Thanks, Jasmin

Answer: Hi Jasmin, Consistency with settling techniques is important so you don`t send mixed messages and sabotage your efforts. Cheers, Maree
