I have had trouble getting her sleep in the afternoon and then I have to go and pick up my other daughter from school

Hi Maree
My 1 yr old has started to cut out one of her daytime sleeps (1 sleep per day 1.5hrs-2hrs), she goes to sleep fine in the morning but have had trouble for the past couple of days getting her sleep in the afternoon and then it seems to late as I have to go and pick up my other daughter from school then I feel it`s too late to put her to sleep so give her dinner about 4.30 then bed around 5.30. She goes to sleep great then but wakes after about an hour and cries and won`t resettle, she still seems tired. I end up getting her up as it`s around our dinner time and then she seems wide awake until we put her back at around 8pm. What should we do?

Answer: Hi, Do be guided by tired signs during this transition time as each day won`t be the same. Try pushing forward the morning nap a little each day until you can get an early lunch around 11.30 and down by 12noon. Try to avoid the late afternoon nap and have an early dinner ready on these days to avoid being overtired at the tea table. Cheers, Maree
