My 19 month old is still waking up 2 to 3 times through the night

hi there i have a big problem, my 19 month old is still waking up through the night, she wakes up about 2-3 times depending. ive tried cutting her bottles back, giving her water at night when she wakes but then if she has water she stays awake. she is on cows milk now, eats well, naps during the day due to if she doesnt she will sleep before tea is ready and is very cranky till she is asleep. i dont know what to do as i am soon due for another baby and having her and the newborn wake up through the night i dont think i will be able to live out the day i need help and advice that will get my hungry monster to sleep through the night.

Answer: Hi, From about 6 months a baby should be able to sleep 7pm to 7am without and overnight feed so she is waking out of habit for the bottle now. If you want to change this then you would need to stop offering her anything overnight. It is very important also that you don`t get her off to sleep initially at night with the bottle because this will be her sleep association and when she wakes on her light sleep,(as we all do) then she will look for this same comfort to return to sleep. You may want to try our It`s Time To Sleep settling techniques to get her sleeping independently. Cheers, Maree
