She is waking up MANY times a night

Hello Maree!
My infant is about to turn 10 months old this week. She has been crawling now for almost a month, and is pushing herself up into downward dog yoga-type positions. She HAD been sleeping quite well. She would wake once around 12am and fuss for a few minutes before putting herself back to sleep and wake again between 3-4am for a feed. We have recently done the tough-love approach to end the mid-of-the-night feed. I understand that new milestones often cause disruptions in a baby`s sleep, although she is waking up MANY times a night now and fussing. I would estimate she`s waking at least four times a night right now. She also does not have any NEW teeth coming in right now. Can you offer your insight on why this may be happening? She`s had no immunizations recently either, and she is not sick at the moment (although she does go to daycare three days a week, so she often is).
Ta! :)

Answer: Hi J, She may have been experiencing 8 month separation anxiety recently and this can bring about some changes. Often when baby is waking frequently it has alot to do with how baby goes to sleep initially. The most important thing is that you settle him awake into his cot at night initially. A baby needs to fall asleep on her own so when she wakes on his light sleep later (as we all do) that she will know how to resettle herself. You can get an overview of our settling program from the Your Baby`s Sleep section of the Huggies site or for more detail, and a visual demonstration; It`s Time To Sleep DVD & BOOK. Cheers, Maree
