Placenta Clot

I went in to labour 3 weeks early but my wee girl was a healthy 7 p 4 oz. They say I had a blot clot in my placenta and it was coming away. The day before I had a scan at the hospistal with my midwife to check up on much fluid I had left, as I was getting quite hard and big in the tummy and I am only a small person. I would love to have another baby sometime (my daughter is 10 months now) and am worried I will not make it past 37 weeks and that this type of clot or placenta abruption as they call it could happen again. What are the odds this can happen as I had a pretty healthy pregancy and so going in to labour quickly like that shocked me.

Answer: Hi, This chances of this type of problem occurring with your next prengancy are quite low. If you had high blood pressure or pre eclampsia then you are at risk of developing this again but if there was no known cause for the abruption then more than likely it will not occur again.
