Tuna mornay... Lock Rss

...how do you do yours?

smile
Tuna moray is one of my all time favourite go to meals. Quick to make and cheap as well.

Here's my recipe:

1 large tin of tuna drained
2 cups of milk
3 tablespoons of plain flour
1 onion diced
1 carrot (I grate mine but my mum dices it - either way is good)
Frozen peas and corn (as much as I feel like)
Grated cheese (1 cup for sauce and however much you like for the top)
Salt and pepper to season
Margarine (not sue how much...I guess it's about 3 tablespoons)

Spread drained tuna on bottom of baking dish.
Cook the onion and carrot in the margarine in a saucepan.
Add the flour and stir until the flour is cooked.
Slowly add the milk a bit at a time and stir and allow to thicken with each amount of milk added.
Add peas and corn and stir through.
Add salt and pepper to season.
Add cheese.
Poor sauce over tuna and top with cheese.
Cook in 180C oven until cheese is browned.

My family have always eaten it served on toast (don't ask me why lol) but when I make it for DS I add a layer of cooked rice under the tuna. He loves it! I know some people put macroni in it but I've never done it that way. Others top with breadcrumbs.

Thanks Mel!

My mum does a white sauce one and I was wanting to do one with breadcrumbs...I've got a feeling my kids are going to dislike it :/ but I've been hankering for it!

RS, I'm not sure if your kids would eat it...don't they just eat the tops of broccoli?!
Well if you make it let me know if the kids like it.
