Age: baby, toddler
Skill for Bub: Mind builder, Just for fun, Hand/eye coordination
A baby version of catch teaches your toddler the rules of sharing.
Rolling or gently throwing a rubber ball back and forth is a terrific way to help your future little leaguer develop hand-eye coordination and physical strength. It will also introduce him to the concept of sharing.
As you help your child pass the ball, praise your child by saying expressions like, “Your turn!” “Now it’s mummy’s turn!” “Great job sharing!” especially if your child is having a tough time letting go of the ball.
Big-Sib Coach: Consider having your family sit in a circle and let your older child narrate who’s passing the ball: “Ok, daddy gives the ball to mummy! Mummy gives the ball to you!”
