Five-Spoon Supper

Duration: any

Age: toddler, child, parent

Skill for Bub: Hand/eye coordination, Mind builder

summary:

A little extra silverware washing is worth getting your child to eat more of her dinner.

Set your child’s place at the table with five different kinds of spoons (or forks depending on the meal) instead of just one. (Characters or colours work best.) Tell your child that each spoon will take a turn feeding her. Allow her to choose which one to start with. If she needs extra encouragement, you can say, for example, “The blue spoon looks mighty hungry, should he be next?” Your child will wind up having so much fun trying out the different utensils that she’ll finish the meal in no time!
