Age: toddler, child
Skill for Bub: Hand/eye coordination, Mind Builder
Children learn what to wear for different temperatures and weather conditions with some help from a fuzzy little fellow.
When your toddler refuses to put on a jacket even when it’s snowing outside — or wants to wear her favorite sweater when it’s 90 degrees — Weather Bear to the rescue! He will not only put a stop to the clothing conflicts, but will teach your child about climate and seasons, too.
Purchase a teddy bear large enough to fit into your child’s old baby clothes. Each morning, help your child dress the bear in an outfit that is appropriate to the day’s weather. For example: A sweater and jeans for a mild day in autumn, or shorts, a T-shirt, sunglasses, and a baseball cap on a warm summer day.
Ask your child to help you select a similar outfit for her to wear. As long as the items are appropriate to the temperature, be sure to give her some power to choose what she wants to wear — even if it’s not the most coordinated look you’ve ever seen. Style Bear anyone?
