A silly way to teach your child how to talk on the telephone.
Babies love to imitate what adults do. That’s why no matter how many bells and whistles their toys seem to have, they always go for the remotes, keys, and cell phones first. If your child is a telephone fan, she’ll adore this pretend-play activity.
Hand her a toy phone or a phone-shaped object such as a banana. Pick up a similar object and say, hello plus the name of your child. Encourage your baby to respond by saying hello. Ask how she is doing and start a conversation. This activity will help to engage her in conversation and develop voice pattern recognition. If she’s not ready to talk, don’t be concerned. Just think, a decade from now you won’t be able to get her off of the phone!
