Can you recommend books for shared reading sessions for an almost two year old and an almost six month old?

Hi Brett
Can you recommend books for shared reading sessions for an almost two year old and an almost six month old? The almost two loves her books but isn`t keen on sharing my attention with her little sister during reading time. And little sister is only interested (apart from as something to chew on) for very short periods.
Thanks
Linda

Answer: Hi Linda, To capture everyone`s attention it might be worthwhile `playing up` a little more during your reading session. Choose some books with lots of interactivity and turn your reading-session into a Riotous Reading Experience! Feel free to go crazy and be completely over-animated in the way you read the story. Watching mum go crazy will be sure to capture attention and they`ll love watching you having so much fun with the story. Don`t worry about looking silly - it`s only your own children who can see you and I guarantee they`ll love it! Try picking a few books with surprise, suspense or mystery. Act out the parts in the book and get both your kids involved. For example, you could read "Where is the Green Sheep" to them both and really play up the mystery of just where that green sheep has gotten to. Lift the flaps are also great fun. You could try reading a book like "Dear Zoo" and act genuinely shocked at the surprises under each flap. Or books like "The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" and "The House that Jack Built" provide truckloads of humorous surprises over every page. Good Luck! Brett
