Will I lose both babies if they try to remove the ectopic one?

I have just found out i am prenant to two fetuses. One is ectopic at about 6wks 4days the other One is in the Womb and is 5wks 5days. My question is will i lose them both if they try to remove the ectopic one? and how long can you leave the ectopic one? can it safely grow if still alive will it afect my health and life?. Please note i have what is called a bicornial uterus (ps sorry about spelling)

Answer: Hi Karen, Thank you for your enquiry. This is an unusual situation that you are in and I am sure that your doctors will try everything that they can to ensure a good outcome for you. Usually an ectopic pregnancy is not sustainable and results in a miscarriage. Mostly a small operation has to be performed to remove the pregnancy from the tube so that it does not cause damage to the tube or an infection. The other pregnancy that is in your uterus should remain safe during this time. Best wishes, Alex
