Why is delivering a baby is so different then when you watch a documentary?

Hi my name is Liz, i just wanted to know why delivering a baby is so different then when u watch a documentary...no body told me i would be in a room with my partner and i all alone and the midwife coming in for a minute or 2 to check on how things are going every 30-60 mins...i thought there are people there to make sure you dont freak out cos i was freaking out thinking these people dont care about my baby???
i think there should be more taught in ante natal clinics letting future mums know whats going to happen in the delivery room

Sarah...
Answer: Hi Liz, Yes there is a bit of a myth about childbirth and women have many different experiences during childbirth and some are not too good. It is always advisable to find out as much as you can about labour and birth during pregnancy so that you and your partner are well-prepared. There are many different childbirth choices and midwifery-led care is one way that you can be provided with more one on one care during the pregnancy and birth. Best wishes, Alex
