I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and yesterday I fell down the stairs

Hi Alex,
I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and yesterday I fell down the stairs on my bum. I had my 15month old and her bags land on my stomach and have since been in a fair bit of pain. I went up to the hospital and the trace sounded great and they sent me home. For a couple of days before the fall I have been feeling like a separating/ripping/pulling sensation that is quite painful across the top of my uterus horizontally. I have also been getting a few braxton hicks. I asked the ob and she said that it is probably just ligaments but was wondering if it could be a sign of placental abruption as it is quite sore and i have also been feeling a bit light in the head. should i possibly get a 2nd opinion from my gp for an ultrasound or just leave it and hope the pain goes away in the next day or 2.
thanks in advance

Answer: Hi Kat, Thank you for your enquiry. You would not be very well at all if the placenta was in danger of abruption so it wouldn’t be that. Sometimes you do pull a muscle in your uterus that can cause considerable discomfort. If you are concerned it is best to have another check up just to be sure. Best wishes, Alex
