I have recently been suffering from stinging/piercing/stabbing pains down below

Hello Alex,
I am 34 weeks pregnant and i have recently been suffering from stinging/piercing/stabbing pains down below. I had a feeling that the baby was engaged and that i may have been experiencing pre labour symptoms (because at 25 weeks my cervix had started effacing and i had to take steroids for bubs lungs). My Obstetrician told me that it may be thrush and to put cream up there, but afterwards he checked my cervix just incase it was pre labour and he found my cervix has effaced to half a cm and that i am 1 cm dilated. Im just curious to know whether i should still apply the cream if i am dilating? i just dont want to cause an infection or anything. Also, how long is it possible to stay this way for? Id like bub to make it to 36 weeks.
Thanks,
Helen

Answer: Hi Helen, You still need to treat the thrush. I am unable to predict how far along you will get. The labour could commence at any time. You need to keep in touch with your local hospital so that they are aware if anything starts to happen. Hopefully you will get close to term. Best wishes, Alex
