Can anything I eat while pregnant possibly affect the baby`s likelihood for allergies?

Hi,
My son (child #2) has food allergies (peanut and egg), hayfever, and also had a lot of problems with reflux and excema when young. Im now pregnant with child #3 and was wondering if anything I eat while pregnant can possibly affect the baby`s likelihood for allergies. Both my partner, our eldest and I suffer from hayfever but none of us have food allergies. I know it may sound silly, but is there anything that I can do during pregnancy to minimise the chances of food allergies?

Sarah...
Answer: Hi, There is one theory that if you do eat a wide range of foods during pregnancy your child is less likely to develop allergies. However, this is not proven. It is probably just bad luck that your son has food allergies and your next child may be fine. Best wishes, Alex
