My partner and I are in debate about Circumcising our Baby Boy

Hi Alex,
im currently about 21 and a hlf weeks pregnant. i constantly spend my nights in the bathroom. my urges to go are triggered by sharp pains in my stomach, where i try and take a breath and i feel a stabbing. is this normal? I have asked my JP and they said it was all part of pregancy.

another question, at what stage shuld i feel my bub kicking or moving, i feel small things which i dont consider to be bub, but more stretching and pulling of my stomach.

also, on another note my partner and I are in debate about Circumcising our Baby Boy, i would like to and he deosnt want too, can you please explain to me the benefits and cons about doing this?

i look forward to you answers.
Thanks in advance.

Sarah...
Answer: Hi, Pregnancy can upset your bowel from hormone changes and also the baby getting in the way. You usually start to feel movements from 20 weeks and these start as little flutters and then become more definite. Circumcision is not done as much these days as there are not really any informed reasons for doing it. The care of an uncircumcised boy is the same as any other. You don’t try to pull the foreskin back at all until the child is at least at school (5 – 6 years) where he can be shown how to pull back the foreskin and clean it himself. Best wishes, Alex
