I had an emergency caesar last time, will I have to have another caesar one this time?
Hi Alex I have just found out I am pregnant again we r very excited unplanned but looking forward to the new arrival. I am 6 weeks Due Jan 2010. My question is with my last labour 6 months ago. I had an emerg caesar, do u think I will have to have another will it automatically be a caesar? I am a public patient so of course u have no choice but what the hospital or your Dr says.
I am just conserned if I try for a natural labour my stomach may split open since my caesar my scar is so tender and I still can`t do a sit up & it is numb and sore still. I can`t imagine going through contractions and trying to push with those muscles that r so damaged
It is always better to try for a vaginal birth as it has fewer complications for you and your baby. However, you need to contact the hospital where you had your first baby to find out why you had the caesarean so that you can discover if you will need another one. It is very common to have a natural birth after a caesarean and usually the outcomes are quite good. There is only a very small risk of having problems with the scar – it is healed by 6 weeks after the operation – there still may be some tenderness but the scar is all back together.
