Is it common to be faint while pregnant, or are there any reasons this could be happening?

hi Alex,
i am in my 39th week of pregnancy and everything has been going fine but all along i have been having dizzy spells. speaking to my midwife she explained that it was likely because i had very low iron levels. i was put on tablets and at my last blood tests my iron levels were back up to a normal level. i am still getting dizzy quite often and on 2 occasions have blacked out completely for a few minutes, even when i am just sitting down and not doing anything strenuous etc its made me quite worried and not very keen to go anywhere on my own, bubs is still very active but still hasnt engaged and this is my first pregnancy, with only a week to go! im just wondering if it is common to be faint while pregnant or any reason this could be happening? also when would it be expected for my baby to become engaged, or any reason shes not yet? its getting uncomfy! thanks :)

Answer: Hi, Your dizziness may also be due to low blood pressure. Try to drink plenty of water to help increase it a bit and always get up slowly when you are sitting or lying down so that your BP has time to adjust. This is quite common and it has no long term problems with you or the baby. Everything will improve after the birth. Best wishes, Alex
