I was upset to find I have low immunity against rubella

I am 6-7 weeks pregnant and just got my blood results at my doctors, I was upset to find I have low immunity against rubella and must keep away from infected people. I`m now paranoid and work in a small confined office with people who have had shingles in the last couple of months. Am I only at risk when having contracted the virus? Am I safe at work?, how do I know someone has the rubella virus? I don`t want my baby to be harmed, please help me.

Answer: Hi, Rubella is a very mild illness and the majority of adults have been immunized so will not get the illness. Shingles is the chicken pox virus so is not related to rubella at all. It is very rare in the community so your chances of getting it are slight. Try not to worry too much. Best wishes, Alex
